Scamsters, dacoits call the shots

IF A multi-crore food scam report felled DG (CB-CID) JS Ghungesh, it was the ?relative? power of dreaded dacoit Shiv Kumar alias Dadua that caused the dislodging of Chitrakoot SP Sachi Ghildiyal. Large-scale transfers in the police evoked curious response among senior IPS officers today. Highly-placed sources told the Hindustan Times that Ghungesh, who was a close-confidant of CM Mulayam Singh Yadav, had fallen out because of a probe report on the food-for-work scam in Ballia.

IF A multi-crore food scam report felled DG (CB-CID) JS Ghungesh, it was the ‘relative’ power of dreaded dacoit Shiv Kumar alias Dadua that caused the dislodging of Chitrakoot SP Sachi Ghildiyal.

The CB-CID had nailed several officers and senior Samajwadi Party leaders and FIRs were filed with nod of the State Government.

However, with the issue snowballing into a political controversy, the government dumped the DG CB-CID to the Prosecution Wing in place of SK Rizvi. While mystery shrouds over Rizvi being placed on the waiting list, the appointment of IG Allahabad Subrat Tripathi has also come as a shocker to officers at the DGP headquarters.

Newly appointed Chitrakoot SP Sachi Ghildiyal was not lucky enough to survive after her ‘encounter’ with the Dadua gang.  In a recent encounter the Chitrakoot police had gunned down one member of the Dadua gang. She had supervised the operation.

Now she has been shifted to the Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO). She is reportedly the third SP to be shunted out after taking on Dadua, whose political clout is well known in the region. While his brother Bal Kumar Patel is in the Samajwadi Party, his son Vir Singh was elected chairman of the Chitrakoot Zila Panchayat with the help of the ruling party.

However, the Home Department was wise enough to do justice with Azamgarh SSP Navin Arora, who was removed from the post on the complaint of an inspector. Sources said an inspector managed to convince a senior SP leader against Arora and in no time the Azamgarh SSP was shunted to PTC Moradabad last week. Arora reportedly met the SP leader to explain the case and got back the hot seat. The case of Rae Bareli SP BD Paulson, who has been transferred, was also no different. During the recent Lok Sabha by-election, SP general secretary Beni Prasad Verma had pledged to ‘fix’ the SP after the poll.
