STEVEN SPIELBERG’S seven Academy Award winning film ‘Schindler’s List’ was changed at the last moment at Bharat Bhavan’s Antarang and instead ‘The Last Emperor’ was screened here on Sunday - the last day of the year.
Although Bharat Bhavan Film Club formally announced and published in its calendar that the Schindler’s List would be screened, it was dropped at the last moment due to some technical problem.
Instead, Bernardo Bertolucci’s nine Academy Award winning film ‘The Last Emperor’ was screened. “Some problem surfaced with the DVD of Schindler’s List, so we had to drop it,” said the operator.
Several film connoisseurs, who came to watch the Spielberg film were visibly disappointed not because they had to watch ‘The Last Emperor’, but because it was a repetition for them.
“We already saw this film earlier and were literally dying to watch Schindler’s List, which is on Nazi concentration camp,” remarked Amitav Sinha and his friend.
However, watching Bertolucci again was a pleasant experience for many. The film club’s source said Schindler’s List would probably be screened next week.
