A 28-year-old man in West Bengal was hacked to death by five schoolboys for protesting against eve teasing by them, police said on Thursday.
According to police, Biswanath Ghosh was killed on Wednesday afternoon at Amdanga in North 24 Parganas district, adjoining Kolkata, for protesting eve teasing regularly indulged in by the teenagers. All the five boys were arrested.
The man had a dispute with the boys on Wednesday morning when they were teasing some women on their way to school.
At around 1230 hours, the boys gathered in Amdanga area and hacked Biswanath to death with a sharp weapon.
"We have arrested the boys and produced them in Barasat court. The court remanded them to judicial custody for a fortnight," North 24 Parganas Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar told IANS.
