Schumacher leads in final practice session
Ferrari's Michael Schumacher finished first in the final practice session on Saturday before qualifying for the Spanish GP.
Michael Schumacher continued his recent good form by topping the final practice session on Saturday before qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Schumacher, who has won the Spanish GP six times, including four in a row from 2001 to 2004 for Ferrari, clocked 1 minute, 15.658 seconds.
Giancarlo Fisichella of Renault was second in 1:15.707. Teammate Fernando Alonso, competing in his native Spain for the first time as Formula One world champion, was eighth in 1:16.595.
Qualifying takes place Saturday afternoon for Sunday's 60-lap race on the 4.627-kilometer (2.875-mile) Circuit de Catalunya.
Last year, Alonso became the youngest driver and first Spaniard to win the F1 title. However, he has finished behind Schumacher in the last two races after winning two of the first three GPs this season.
Alonso leads the championship after five races with 44 points, followed by Schumacher with 31 and McLaren-Mercedes' Kimi Raikkonen with 23.
