A journalist in Valsad has been arrested for alleged extortion and links with the underworld, police said on Tuesday.

Anil Shah, who runs a weekly magazine at Vapi town in Valsad district, has been booked under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (PASA).

Three offences of extortion have been registered against Shah, District Superintendent of Police Abhay Chudasama said, adding he used his profession for extortion.

Shah also had alleged links with the underworld and had travelled to Dubai to meet Ijju Sheikh, a landing agent of Dawood Ibrahim who was involved in smuggling of RDX and arms before the 1993 Mumbai blasts, police said.
