TRADERS OF the State have decided to soon launch a state-wide agitation in support of the Delhi-based traders, who are protesting sealing of their establishments.
“A meeting of representatives of various trader outfits in the country would be held in New Delhi on November 14 to decide the future course of action,” Sandeep Bansal, convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (ABUVM), told reporters here on Thursday.
“The ABUVM plans to launch an indefinite strike in association with the Delhi-based traders if the issue is not resolved soon,” he said.
The Delhi Government should punish officials, who allowed these establishments to come up in Delhi about four decades back, Bansal demanded.
He further said, as raw material and finished goods had stopped arriving in Uttar Pradesh due to the traders’ strike in New Delhi, business across the State had been affected. The sealing issue, if not resolved amicably, would lead to rise in prices of essential commodities in the coming days, he added.
Commenting on BJP’s win in the civic poll, Bansal said traders played a key role in the victory. “We have now decided to support the party even in the forthcoming assembly polls,” he said.
