Security has been beefed up at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, providing security to the Centre, have been put on alert, Nellore District Superintendent of Police PM Malla Reddy told PTI over phone.
Reddy, however, said there was no specific input from intelligence agencies of any possible attack by terrorists.
"As the space centre was near the sea shore, we have taken extra precautions to keep a watch on the movement of people. Strict security check-up is being carried out at the entrance," he said.
Besides intensifying patrolling at the Pulicat lake near the space centre, the Coast Guard was keeping a vigil in the Bay of Bengal, he said.
While CISF personnel were manning internal security of the space centre, the civil police take care of the periphery, the SP said.
