Security beefed up before PM's Kerala visit

india Updated: Oct 31, 2006 12:31 IST

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the city and surrounding areas as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is slated to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday evening for a two-day visit packed with engagements, including inauguration of the Golden jubilee of formation of Kerala state on Wednesday.

Security had been tightened in view of the flutter caused by the recent e-mail threat against Prime Minister and the President. A youth was arrested on Sunday for sending out the e-mail from a cafe in Kochi.

The Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone for the terminal at the International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram and address a Congress party convention at the KPCC headquarters on Wednesday.

He would inaugurate the 50-day state golden jubilee celebrations at a colourful function at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium in the evening.
