The city police have extended the deadline for private security agencies to acquire licence to operate by one month. Earlier, they were required to obtain the document by September 30. The agencies will have to abide by the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act 2009.
More than 1,000 operators function in Haryana, but only 197 have applied for a licence, while just 28 have been issued the document. The decision came on Monday, after a delegation of security agencies met police commissioner SS Deswal. He said those which had applied for licence would be granted extension till October 31, while those that had not applied for one would not come under the new deadline.
