Security guard of PDP leader held for firing at Cong workers

Police here have arrested the security guard of a People's Democratic Party leader who allegedly shot at two Youth Congress workers in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday.


Altaf Ahmad Baba, the PSO of Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, the PDP MLA from Bandipora, was arrested late in the night on Wednesday. He had allegedly fired the gunshots after workers of the two parties had clashed in Bandipora. "We have arrested a security personnel and registered a case against him. Investigations are on,'' a police spokesperson said.

On Wednesday evening, Mudasir Ahmad Baba, 24, and Majeed Amad Khan, 30, were injured after they were shot at near Hospital Road, Panzigam Barzulla, in Bandipora. The inured are being treated at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, where Majeed's conition is said to be critical.
