india Updated: Dec 06, 2008 13:31 IST

A tight security blanket has been thrown across the airport, railway and bus terminals and at major IT units and vital installations here in view of the anniversary of the demolition of Babri Mosque.

At the Bengaluru International Airport, passengers were being subjected to various checks and their baggage closely scrutinised.

Entry of visitors to the terminal has been restricted, airport sources said adding CCTV cameras, installed at the airport, are being used to closely monitor movements of aircraft, vehicles and passengers in the vicinity.

Passengers have been directed to report much before their scheduled flight time in wake of the multi-layered security checks.

A KSRP battalion, two platoons of the Central Armed Reserve Force along with CISF personnel and city police have been deployed as part of stringent security measures at the airport.

A close vigil is also being kept on major railway stations, bus depots and various places of worship, police said.
