Security has been stepped at all hotels and other places frequented by foreigners in Puducherry in the wake of the recent bomb blast in a bakery in Pune.
Hotel and restaurant owners and their workers in this former French colony, visited by tourists, have been asked to keep close vigil on those visiting and checking in.
Teams of police personnel led by Senior Superintendent of Police and Superintendents are holding talks with hotel owners reviewing the security arrangements on their premises.
Police are ascertaining whether the hotels and restaurants including one run by a foreigner were sticking to the security plan and had installed closed circuit televisions and metal detectors. The lists of guests who have booked and occupied the rooms would also be sent to the police.
The flow of tourists into the Union Territory has been picking up of late particularly with the infrastructural developments. A significant number of French nationals reside in Puducherry which also has Auroville, an universal township, on its outskirts, where people from across the world live.
