The road connecting the Indian cricket team's hotel and the two match venues are being sanitised following a powerful bomb blast that killed seven people not far away on Monday.

Top Sri Lankan government officials gave this assurance to the Indian team management at a meeting on Monday night, said the team manager Sanjay Jagdale.

"I have asked the tournament organising committee and others to give the Indian team more security on the road. They have promised to sanitise the road whenever the team bus moves between the hotel and the grounds," Jagdale said.

The organisers have promised to depute more security personnel and vehicles in front and at the back of the team coach carrying the players to the ground.

India will play their first match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
