MASSIVE SECURITY arrangements have been made in the State capital on the eve of former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani’s visit here on Sunday.
Over 1,200 policemen apart from personnel of the Special Armed Force (SAF), Rapid Action Force (RAF), Delta Force and Special Task Force (STF) have been pressed into service and all sensitive areas are on round-the-clock surveillance.
The review meetings were held today. A mock security drill was also organised. Combing operations are on and hotels and lodges are being scanned.
Besides, the police are conducting search operations and keeping an eye at bus stand and railway stations. Traffic arrangements have been slightly changed in certain areas due to the high-profile leader’s visit.
Traffic would be stopped from Airport Road and Narsinhgarh Trisection to Lalghati five minutes before Advani’s arrival in the capital.
The motorcade of former Deputy Prime Minister would reach CM House through Karbala, Retghat and Kamla Park. In this duration, vehicular traffic would be stopped five minutes before the passing of Advani’s motorcade.
Besides, traffic would not be allowed from Moti Masjid to Kamla Park during this period and would be diverted through Budhwara, Talaiya, Lily Talkies and PHQ.
A public meeting would be held at Roshanpura at 1 pm and the route from CM House to Roshanpura would be prohibited for normal traffic.
During the public meeting, vehicles from Jehangirabad would be diverted and would reach New Market through MLA Rest House and Patrakar Bhawan.
Traffic from Jehangirabad to Rang Mahal would move through Machhlighar, KN Pradhan Trisection, Banganga, Hotel Palash, Rang Mahal and Jawahar Chowk. Vehicles from Apex Bank to Roshanpura would go through TT Nagar police station, Post Office and Rang Mahal to reach Banganga while traffic from Roshanpura to Apex Bank will be diverted through Malviya Nagar Trisection, Patrakar Bhawan and the lane beside Saify Shoes.
During a programme at the State Archaeological Museum, movement of vehicles would not be allowed from Aath Bungalow and Wireless Colony.
Only vehicles with passes would be able to enter the venue. Advani would then proceed to Ravindra Bhawan at 4 pm. He would fly to Delhi at 6 pm.
Meanwhile, parking arrangements during the public meeting have been announced. Vehicles coming from Hoshangabad Road would arrive through Habibganj, Chetak Bridge, Board Office, Jail Road, Old Assembly building and Roshanpura while they would be parked at Dussehra Maidan.
The vehicles from Raisen, Vidisha and Berasia would reach through Bharat Talkies, Talaiya, Lily Square and Roshanpura. They will also have to be parked at Dussehra Maidan, according to a release issued by the traffic police.
