THE STATE Government has extended the deadline of submission of self-assessment report for colleges affiliated to University Grant Commission till 31 October 2006.

The Government has issued instructions in this regard to the Higher Education Department and has advised the colleges to submit their reports in time.

Besides, the Government has also asked the Commissioner, Higher Education and additional regional directors of the department to inform about the progress in this regard.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NACC) assesses the higher education institutes and awards them grades to set standards of quality education.

The higher education institutes can reimburse the assessment fee from Tenth Plan grant to UGC under NAAC provisions. The colleges are also advised to get their assessment done during Tenth Plan (before 1 April 2007) so that assessment fee can be reimbursed.
