Senior journalist Vinod Mehta dies at 72

Outlook Group's editorial chairman Vinod Mehta died in New Delhi on Sunday. Mehta, 72, who had recently released his second book Editor Unplugged, was on ventilation since past few weeks.

Senior journalist and Outlook Group's editorial chairman Vinod Mehta died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Sunday.

Mehta, 72, who had recently released his second book Editor Unplugged, had been on a ventilatory support and had a massive cardiac arrest on Thursday.

He was transferred to the pulmonary medicine intensive care unit at AIIMS about two weeks ago from Max Hospital in Saket, where he was admitted after a severe bout of pneumonia.

Mehta, had worked with several publications including Debonair, Sunday Observer, Pioneer and Indian Post.

Born in Rawalpindi, Mehta has authored a biography of Meena Kumari and Sanjay Gandhi. His much-talked-about memoir, Lucknow Boy, was published in 2011.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Rajnath Singh offered condolences on Mehta's demise.
