Senior leaders to campaign in Gorakhpur after festivals

SENIOR LEADERS, belonging various political parties, are all set to campaign for the municipal corporation election after Diwali and Eid. Union minister for Small Scale Industries Mahavir Prasad will arrive here on October 23 and stay here for two days to give a momentum to the Congress? campaign.

SENIOR LEADERS, belonging various political parties, are all set to campaign for the municipal corporation election after Diwali and Eid. Union minister for Small Scale Industries Mahavir Prasad will arrive here on October 23 and stay here for two days to give a momentum to the Congress’ campaign.

State Congress president Salman Khurshid will also arrive here on October 26 and 27 to address a series of public meetings in favour of party’s mayoral candidate, Rajesh Gupta.

The party stepped up its campaign during the past two days and Gupta urged the party leaders to arrange a meeting Rahul Gandhi to attract the voters.

Gupta carried out a mass contact campaign in minority-dominated areas. Senior leaders of the Samajwadi Party (SP) did not lag behind. They also chalked out a plan to give a momentum to the campaign.

Sources said UP Minister for Urban Development Mohd Azam Khan and State Minister Shardanand Anchal, MLC Rakesh Singh Rana, divisional in-charge of the party, would launch the election campaign from October 23.

State minister Jaiprakash Yadav, Rambhual Nishad, Ambika Chaudhary, SP MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey, MLA Kamlesh Paswan and director of Minorities Financial Corporation Zafar Amin Dakku are also participating in the campaign to ensure the victory of party candidate for mayoral post Sitaram Jaiswal.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people to ensure the victory of BJP candidate Anju Chaudhary for all-round development of the city. Former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and other leaders are likely to arrive here on October 26 to campaign for the BJP candidate.
