Seniors missing from BJP list

THE DISTRICT Bharatiya Janata Party has released a list of all the 110 candidates for the municipal election.

THE DISTRICT Bharatiya Janata Party has released a list of all the 110 candidates for the municipal election.

The names of some senior corporators are missing from the list. They are: BJP leader in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation house Ram Kumar Agarwal from Acharya Narendra Dev ward, party convenor in the LMC house Kapil Soni from Hardin Rai ward, Alka Mishra from Shankarpurwa ward, Rajendra Singh Gabbar from Papermill Colony ward, Malti Singh Sengar from Babu Banarasi Das ward,  Meena Mandal from Rajiv Gandhi ward and Ramu Sanyal from Lalkuan ward. 

Govind Pandey from Vidyawati ward, Devendra Bahadur Singh from Kunj Behari Lal ward, Ramesh Kapur Baba from Chowk Kaliji ward, Girish Singh from Mahanagar ward, GD Shukla from Begum Hazrat Mahal ward and Harsaran Lal Gupta from Chitra Gupta Nagar ward have been able to retain their seats.

Naveen Prakash Rastogi Baba has been replaced by his wife Ragini Rastogi as his ward  has been reserved for women.

On the other hand, Santosh Balkhandi from Kesri Khera ward has replaced his wife and present corporator Rajni Balkhandi as the ward is now in the general category.

It was reserved for women the last time.

Supporters of candidates who have been denied tickets started protesting inside the party office. Senior party leaders tried to pacify them.

Dinesh is BJP’s choice

AMIDST CONFUSION over ticket distribution, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday decided to field Dr Dinesh Sharma for the prestigious post of Lucknow mayor.

The BJP nominees for the mayoral posts in Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Varanasi are Ravindra Patni, Damyanti Gupta and Kaushalendra Singh, respectively.

Senior party leaders Kalyan Singh, Sstate BJP chief Keshari Nath Tripathi, Lalji Tandon, Kalraj Mishra and others were busy in day-long meetings to finalise the party nominees for posts of corporator, mayor and nagar nigam chairmen.
