Sensex down by over 61 points in early trade

The Sensex failed to hold initial gains in the opening session and fell by over 61 points at 12,844.85 points.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex, failed to hold initial gains in the opening session and fell by over 61 points on heavy profit-booking by market participants.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex), which opened 18.62 points higher, slid down by 61.96 points at 12,844.85 points in the first five minutes of trading.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 19.90 points at 3,719.45 points.
The major weak spots were heavy-weights Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers, Wipro, State Bank of India and BHEL.
