BSE maintained its upward march at mid-session and touched a new peak at 14,621.78 points.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex maintained its upward march at mid-session today and touched a new peak at 14,621.78 points on brisk buying by funds and general investors.
The Sensex staged a remarkable gain of 153.59 points at 14,621.78 at 1300 hours as front runner stocks led by banking companies surged after leading private sector bank ICICI raised its benchmark lending rate.

The second wide-based National Stock Exchange index, Nifty, also set a new peak and gained 29.55 points at 4225.45.
