The Sector 20 police on Sunday arrested two domestic helps with jewellery worth Ra60 lakh, allegedly stolen from a Sector 26 house.

“Kamal Bansal, an executive with a private company, lodged a theft case on Saturday. When his family returned from a holiday on Saturday, they found cash and jewellery worth Ra60 lakh stolen,” said Vijay Prakash, SHO, Sector 20 police station.

“Bansal suspected the involvement of his domestic servants. We investigated the case accordingly and the two were nabbed,” he said.

The accused have been identified as Satish Kumar and Anjali Kumari. The accused have confessed to the theft. The servant police verification was not conducted in this case.

In Noida, many cases of murder, loot and theft, involving servants, have taken place. “We are in touch with agencies for carrying out the verification of servants, workers, besides those having frequent access to the city households. Gurgaon and Faridabad have done well on this front. We will gain from that experience," said a police officer.

The police have no budget for carrying out such exercises. “The cost has to be met by those asking for servant or tenant verification. We cannot pay for this. The project will take some time for implementation.”

The police have met RWAs of various areas several times to start a pilot project on servant/tenant verification.
