Three miscreants allegedly snatched the service revolver of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Head Constable Dharamveer Singh on Monday night from near gurdwara Dukh Niwaran here.

The incident occurred when Amritsar-Jaipur Pooja Express was waiting for the green signal at some distance away from the city railway station, near gurdwara Dukh Niwaran.

Head Constable Dharamveer, who was on duty in the train, had reportedly stepped out of the train to get some fresh air and to see how much time would the signal take to turn green. He had taken only a couple of steps, when two miscreants grabbed him by his arms and the third one allegedly snatched away the service revolver. The miscreants then pushed him on to the ground and fled.

When contacted Commandant, Government Railway Protection Force, Gurjasveer Singh, said that they have lodged a compliant with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in this regard.

Interestingly, the GRP "munshi" at the railway station claimed that it was yet to be established that the incident did take place and so, no case has been registered yet.

"But investigations are on," added the "munshi". SHO Gian Chand was not available for comments.
