MINISTER FOR Public Relations, Panchayat and Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar asked the rural development officials to set an example before the country by maintaining top spot in accomplishing result-oriented development works in rural areas of the State. Tomar was addressing a meeting of the chief executive officers of the district panchayats of the state held here yesterday.

MINISTER FOR Public Relations, Panchayat and Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar asked the rural development officials to set an example before the country by maintaining top spot in accomplishing result-oriented development works in rural areas of the State. Tomar was addressing a meeting of the chief executive officers of the district panchayats of the state held here yesterday.

Congratulating the officials of the Rural Development Department, Tomar said the Union Government has lauded the Madhya Pradesh for the remarkable progress made in the field of rural development. Credit for this goes to hard work and sincerity of the departmental officers and employees, he added.

Tomar asked officers to ensure participation of Panchayat Raj and maintain complete transparency while carrying out implementation of the Madhya Pradesh Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Calling the ‘Jalabhishek Abhiyaan’ most important need of the century, Tomar said the structure being constructed under the campaign should be of good quality. Quality construction work would help augment groundwater table, he said. Tomar asked the CEOs to create favourable environment for Gram Sabha in the villages because gram sabhas play a vital role in rural development.

Tomar directed for training programme for panchayatkarmis. Such panchayatkarmis whose performance is found poor even after the training should be removed.
