Seven MLAs tender resignation after being elected to Lok Sabha

Legislative Assembly Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar on Monday announced that seven members of the Lower House who won the just concluded Lok Sabha elections have tendered their resignations from membership of the house.

The seven members are Sanjay Patil and Padamsinh Patil (NCP), Gopinath Munde (BJP), Subhash Wankhede and Prataprao Jadhav (Shiv Sena), Bhaskarrao Patil-Khatgaonkar (Congress) and Raju Shetty (Shetkari Sanghatna) have resigned following their election to the Lok Sabha.

Kupekar said their resignations have been accepted.

Gulabrao Patil (Shiv Sena) said resignations of Congress MLAs Ajit Ghorpade and Rajiv Rajale who indulged in anti-party activities by contesting as independents during the Lok Sabha elections should be sought and the Speaker should terminate their membership suo motto.

To which Sachin Ahir (NCP) said the Speaker can take such a decision only if there is a complaint from the Congress party. Kupekar said action would be taken if a complaint is received.

The house also paid homage to former members Raosaheb Pawar and Vinayak Korde who passed away recently.
