Seven Maoists including six women have been arrested from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh in connection with the Durg Kondal naxal attack in which five security personnel lost their lives, police said.
The Naxals were apprehended from Panchangi and Aalor forests under Pakhanjoor police limits of the district by a
joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and district police force, Kanker Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav told PTI.
The patrol team reached the jungles after police got a tip on the naxal activity in the area, he said.
As the security personnel combed through the jungles, naxals began to flee to from the spot but were later caught,
the police official said.
Six loaded guns and explosives were also recovered from them, the SP said.
Yadav said interrogation of the arrested naxals revealed that they were involved in the killings of five policemen
including three BSF jawans in Durgkondal last month.
Five policemen were killed on August 29 in a naxal ambush when a joint team of BSF and district police was attacked by the rebels in Bhuski village under Durg Kondal police station in the district while they were conducting routine search
operations in the wee hours.
