Seven-year-old girl found dead in tank

A seven year-old girl,Prerna, a Class 1 student,was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her aunt’s house in Indira Nagar area of Jakkanpur police station on Thursday.

Her body was found floating in a tank near her house in the evening.

A missing case was also lodged with Jakkanpur police station the same morning.

A cousin of the victim, said the girl had gone missing,after she was last seen standing near the main gate of her house.

“The girl was seen standing near the gate at around 10am by her aunt Vimla Devi before she went missing.

The family searched for her everywhere but failed to trace,” he said.

He said, “The family had also searched in the tank but her body was not found then.It seems someone dumped Prerna’s body after killing her.

The girl’s body was recovered when SHO of Jakkanpur police station Manoj Kumar inspected the place of occurrence,” he added.

The girl was dressed in shorts and T shirt when she went missing. Prerna’s body was sent to PMCH for postmortem.

Sagar, the father of the deceased, working as a loco pilot in Katihar division, said the girl had arrived in Patna from Deoghar after performing ‘mundan’.

“She was about to return to Katihar within two days,” he added.

SHO of Jakkanpur police station, Manoj Kumar said, “We are trying to ascertain
whether she was killed or it was a case of natural death by drowning.”
