Sexual abuse case filed against Thai schoolgirls

india Updated: Aug 17, 2006 23:42 IST

Police are probing an allegation that some Thai school girls sexually abused a fellow Indian girl student in their school at Dehradun, officials said on Thursday.

Following a complaint from the Class VI student's mother, police questioned the Thai girls studying in a public school at Dehradun and registered a case under relevent sections of CrPC.

The incident came to light when the mother of the girl, who belongs to Haryana, visited the school and found her in a terrified state. The girl told her mother that she had become the target of alleged sexual abuse and that some senior Thai students were stalking her in the bathroom.

The girl said the Thai girls were passing lewd remarks and making obscene gestures at her, the officials said.

After hearing this, the mother took up the matter with the school principal Tanu Nayal, who reportedly expressed helplessness in the matter.

The mother then approached the Uttaranchal Women's Commission for help and its member Seema Bhatia directed the police to intervene. Sensing the gravity of the matter, police immediately ordered a probe.
