Madhya Pradesh home minister Babulal Gaur has extended his support to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan saying that the actor is a patriot amid reports of protests by the right-wing activists against his recently-released movie “Dilwale”.

“Yes, he is a nice man and a patriot,” Gaur told reporters in Bhopal when asked about the protests. He further said the film was “very good” and the people should watch it.

Earlier, BJP general secretary and former Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijaywargiya had strongly criticised Shah Rukh Khan for his comments on intolerance.

The release of “Dilwale” was marred by protests in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and other parts of the state. The protesters have taken exception to Khan’s comments a few weeks ago where he had expressed concern over rising intolerance in the country amid a raging debate on the issue.
