Incarcerated RJD Lok Sabha member from Siwan Mohammed Shahabuddin suffered further setback on Tuesday with the Patna High Court dismissing his application for regular bail in a case relating to recovery of stolen vehicles from his ancestral village.
Justice Ghanshyam Prasad, who had on Friday adjourned the hearing on the MP's prayer for bail till Tuesday as his counsel YV Giri had sought time to reply to the counter-affidavit filed by the standing counsel for the state Someshwar Dayal, turned down his prayer.
Justice Prasad directed the state to conclude the trial in the case within three months.
According to the FIR in Siwan, a Tata Sierra, one Maruti van, three Yamaha motorcyles, one Bajaj motor bike and one Bajaj scooter were recovered from the courtyard of Shahabuddin's ancestral house at Pratappur during raids by police on April 24, 2005.
The police had charged that all the vehicles recovered from the house of Shahabuddin were stolen ones.
