Shammi Kapoor is Aamir Khan's lucky Mascot. Aamir has been seeking his blessings right from his own debut film.
In Aamir's own words it's a ritual in his family to present the first music CD of a forthcoming film to Shammi Kapoor. Says the actor, "Shammiji's blessings are important. He has been a guiding force since a long time and has been very close to our family. It's a kind of ritual for us to go and present him the first copy of the music. This time it's Imran's launch and it's all the more important."
Incidentally, veteran actor Shammi Kapoor is an old family friend of the Khans having worked in classics like Teesri Manzil and Tum Sa Nahi Dekha which were produced by Aamir's uncle Nasir Hussain.
Which is why Aamir has cancelled the lavish music launch which was planned for the music release of his nephew's (Imraan Khan) debut film Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na the music for which has been composed by AR Rahman.
Aamir insisted that instead of a lavish party, he would rather make it a more intimate affair by going and seeking his lucky mascot's blessings on May 20 and presenting him with a copy of the film's music.
Aamir had earlier gone to seek the blessings of Shammi Kapoor with the first music CD of Taare Zameen Par. And now when he's launching his nephew Imran Khan with his third prodiction Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane na, Aamir wants everything to be right.
