SHASHANK SINGH’S all-round  performance helped Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) beat All Saint’s School by a huge margin of 146 runs on Thursday in the Dr Govind Narayan Singh ‘Dau Saheb’ memorial cricket carnival being played at the Old Campion grounds in the City.

After a one-sided match on Wednesday, the spectators witnessed the highest total of 268 runs by a team in the tournament so far on Thursday.

The lowest score of the tournament      was 53 made by Hero’s Convent on Wednesday. Winning the toss, KV captain Shashank Singh decided to bat.

Shashank, who played well in the senior level inter-division match, repeated his performance. Poor bowling by All Saint’s bowlers helped Shashank score runs in every corner of the ground.

His domination against the bowlers could be gauged from the fact that he scored 17 boundaries and a sky rocketing six in his century.

His knock of 131 is the highest individual score of the match. Virendra supported his skipper well by contributing a useful 66. The good batting helped the KV team set 269-run target.

Chasing the huge target, All Saint’s surrendered meekly against the KV bowlers from the beginning. All Saint’s innings folded up for 122 runs. KV won the match by 146 runs. After a good show with the blade, Shashank scalped four wickets.

Chief guest of the prize distribution on Thursday MP Sandip Dixit presented the ‘man of the match’ award to Shashank Singh.
MLA Uma Shankar Gupta, BDCA chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh, vice president Aruneshwar Singhdeo, organising president Vijesh Lunawat, Arun Tyagi, Uttam Thakur, Rajiv Saxena, Sushil Singh Thakur and others were present on the occasion.
