SHE MAY be a spitting image of her mother, but “Temperamentally, I am more like abba. Not just excited about cricket, I can even play it rather well. Yes, I can bowl you out.”
Sharing her cricketing stance was actress Soha Ali Khan in the city on Sunday for a meet organised by a jewellery brand in Mahanagar. “I am pretty good at cricket...you should see me bowl!” chirped Soha, referring to the presence in the family of, besides illustrious actors like her mother Sharmila Tagore and brother Saif Ali Khan, a legendary cricketer in Nawab of Pataudi Mansoor Ali Khan.
“Abba and amma are equally fond of me and both miss me now that I am in Mumbai or on shooting locations for most of the time,” said the petite girl who started out as working for a non-government organisaion before dabbling with investment banking and finally finding her calling in histrionics.
But, for someone on a tour to promote a jewellery brand, she was surely under-bedecked! “I hope they’ll give me something,” she winked, waving her delicate bare arms. “I fall more for trinkets than for heavy jewellery,” confessed the actress with royal antecedents, adding, “The khandaani heirlooms back home are absolutely awesome. But I would prefer to wear them only on special occasions. May I add that my sister is a jewellery designer.”
Reminded that even as she was talking, the most successful film of her career, Rang De Basanti, was being telecast worldwide, she said, “I am obviously closer to the role I played in the pop-patriotic saga, though I enjoy every bit of doing a role that is comic or plain romantic.” She is presently working in Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan, Sudhir Mishra’s follow-up to Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi, cast opposite another upcoming star Shiney Ahuja.
