Sheena case: Cops conduct search op in Kolkata with Sanjeev

A Mumbai police team brought Sanjeev Khanna, former husband of Indrani Mukerjea, to Kolkata on Monday for a fresh search operation at the residence of his friend and seized a laptop computer and a pendrive in a morning swoop.

There was speculation that the team also seized a cellphone.

Early on Monday morning, a three-member team of Mumbai police headed by an inspector-ranking officer came to Kolkata with Khanna amidst utmost secrecy. None got any tip off that the raid was going on till afternoon.

A section of the police told HT that the team left for Mumbai in the evening, there was a large team of mediamen and locals outside Khanna’s flat at Andul Road in Howrah at 9pm as the word went around that the police team will visit there for a raid.

Incidentally, police produced Indrani Mukerjea and her driver Shyam Rai in the court on Monday as the term of custody ended. But they could not produce Khanna as he was brought to Kolkata, and will be taken to a Bandra court on Tuesday.

Khanna was arrested on August 26 from the residence of Ajay Rawala, another businessman.

Earlier, Mumbai police seized two laptops from the residence of Khanna and his friend Ajay Rawla. According to sources, before the murder of Sheena Bora Khanna and Mukerjea hatched the plot through Skype with the help of these computers.

Earlier, Mumbai police also conducted raid at Khanna’s Chittaranjan Avenue-based office in Kolkata. They found out that Indrani Mukerjea also used to visit the that office, and sometimes Khanna and Mukerjea would get engage in hated altercations.

Mumbai police also got hold of some dolls of Vidhi, the daughter of Khanna and Mukerjea, from the office which indicates that Vidhi would also go to his father’s office.
