Shekhawat in City today, security tightened

ELABORATE SECURITY arrangements will be in place during Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat’s visit to Bhopal on October 30 with about a dozen IPS officers and more than 1,000 police personnel assigned duty at various spots.

Bhopal range DIG Anuradha Shankar Singh will oversee all security arrangements.  Bhopal SP A K Singh and other officials will monitor security in the State Capital throughout the Vice President’s stay .

The police carried out a mock drill on Sunday to streamline security arrangements and tighten loose ends, if any. Security arrangements have been put in place at the airport, Vidhan Sabha, Raj Bhavan, Motilal Nehru Police stadium and other places the Vice President will be visiting.

Policemen from neighbouring districts have also been called to Bhopal and engaged in security set up. Besides IPS officers, several State police officers of ASP and DSP rank will be present for security during the Vice President’s visit.

To address first day of winter session
VICE-PRESIDENT Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will declare the concluding of the State Assembly’s Golden Jubilee celebrations on the first day of the Assembly’s winter session - October 31.

According to a State Assembly secretariat press release, the Vice-President will address MLAs, ex-MLAs, MPs and ex-MPs at Mansarovar Hall of the Assembly.

Later, the Vice-President will join  the MLAs for a group photograph. The Vice-President will proceed from Raj Bhavan at 11 am for the Assembly. Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, Governor Dr Balram Jakhar, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi, Deputy Speaker Hajarilal Raghuvanshi, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Narottam Mishra and Assembly’ principal secretary Dr AK Payasi will receive Shekhawat.

At Mansarovar Hall the Speaker, the Governor, the Chief Minister, Leader Opposition and the Deputy Speaker will deliver  speeches after the welcome to the Vice-President. Shekhawat will later attend the lunch hosted in his honour by the Speaker.
