Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who resigned as Vice President after losing the Presidential poll, will move into 31, Aurangzeb Road offered by the government.

The type VII bungalow, which was inspected by his family members on Wednesday, will be readied for occupation in the next ten days, an aide of Shekhawat said.

The house was offered to former President APJ Abdul Kalam but he had declined to stay. Shekhawat's staff has made inquiries about 9, Janpath, a bungalow next to the residence of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi but it did not seem suitable because of security reasons. Several political leaders in the past have refused to stay in 9, Janpath as the house is believed to the jinxed.

The Urban Development Ministry says it is faced with shortage of type VII bungalows which are allotted to former presidents and vice-presidents.
