Shikha Uberoi's campaign at the Sunfeast Open ended in an anti-climax here today after her Hungarian partner Melinda Czink was forced to pull out midway through the doubles semi-final due to an indisposition.

The Indo-Hungarian team conceded the match after going down 3-6 in the opening set against the third seeded Ukrainian pair of Yulia Beygelzimer and Yuliana Fedak, who made their way into the final of the USD 175,000 WTA tier III event.

"Czink had to retire due to a viral illness. She had the problem even before the match began, but thought she could take to the court despite that," a WTA official told newspersons.

Shikha and Czink had last night upset the second seeded combination of Australian Nicole Pratt and Anastassia Rodionova 7-6 (8-6) 3-6 4-6 to reach the the last four stage.

In the singles, Shikha -- a wild card entrant -- went out of contention in the opening round itself with a straight set loss to Czech girl Hana Sromova.

The US-based Shikha had reached the doubles final partnering her sister Neha in the maiden edition of the tournament last year before losing out to the crack Russion duo of Anastasia Myskina and Elena Likhovtseva.
