The youth convention of the Catholic Church in India will be held from October 13 to 17 to facilitate holistic interaction among the youth from the different archdioceses and dioceses in India.
Shillong Archdiocese Arch Bishop Dominic Jala said that about 2000 delegates from across the country are expected to take part in the convention.
"The theme for the convention is "Live the word, liberate the world" with three thrust areas - eradicate poverty, rejuvenate environment and building a culture of peace" the Arch Bishop added.
He hoped that the convention in the region will help youth from other regions to understand and experience the Christian call, missionary spirit and evangelisation through the parish and mission exposure.
"It will also help the people of our region to share our unique culture, and it will open new dimensions where by youth who migrate from the North East might get assistance in their search for education and employment," Rev Jala also added.
