Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has sent legal notices to 'Jazz' Barton and Bobby Khan for defamation and misguiding the industry and public regarding her by posing as Shettys 'agent' and 'manager' respectively, through her lawyer Rohini Vakil, spokesperson for the actress, Dale Bhagwagar here today
Admitting that Jazz was instrumental (along with Bobby Khan) in Shetty's tie-up with Endemol (the casting-agency for Big Brother), Bhagwagar said "She (Jazz) never had any contract or agreement signed up with Shilpa. She was not even a friend, just an acquaintance."
Bhagwagar informed, "When the entire UK media started addressing her as Shilpa's "agent" and Bobby Khan as 'manager', while Shilpa was in the Big Brother house, we sensed Jazz was upto mischief by misguiding the media. Queries were being misdirected to Bobby Khan and her. When we learnt that Jazz had begun brokering deals, signing financial agreements and making commitments on Shilpa's behalf, it had to be announced and clarified that she was not the 'agent'."
When Shilpa's mother Sunanda Shetty went to London and gave out the facts about Jazz to the UK media, she took offence and began using derogatory language against Sunanda in the UK media, Bhagwagar said.
Bhagwagar pointed out, "Jazz even tried to insinuate a racism angle saying, she would be 'deeply unhappy if Sunanda appointed a white Briton to represent Shilpa in the UK and worldwide'. It is evident, Jazz was trying to create another racist divide, behaving like a 'Jade Part 2'."
Jazz has now come down to Mumbai along with Bobby Khan giving statements and interviews to Indian channels and newspapers against the Shettys. This is why, the Shettys were forced to take legal action against her, he said.
"Jazz has received the legal notice herself at Bobby Khan's residence," Bhagwagar quoted Rohini Vakil as saying.
The Shettys had earlier announced their decision to sue Jazz and Bobby Khan, Bhagwagar added.
