Shimla marriage party mishap kills 9

Nine persons of a marriage party, including the newly-wed couple, have been killed and 11 others injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling in rolled down a hill at Kumladwar in Narkanda Rohroo.

The mishap occured last night at Kumladwar, 90 km from Shimla, when the vehicle rolled about 500 metres down a hill and the bridegroom Vijay Chouhan, bride Bubli and six others died on the spot, Rohroo Sub-Divisional Magistrate Amarjeet Singh said on Thursday.

One Sanjeera Mehta succumbed to injuriues in the hospital. Five women were among the deceased.

Others who died in the accident are Sandeep Mehta, Meera Mehta, Kanta Mehta, Bobby, Bhav Singh and Pandita, Singh said.

Of the 11 injured, the condition of six persons is stated to be critical and were shifted to IGMC hospital in Shimla from hospitals in Rohroo and Tikker.

The cause of the accident was yet to be established and a case has been registered, Singh added.
