A senior Shiv Sena member was shot and grievously injured by some unknown assailants in Rampur, triggering a protest by hundreds of party activists, police said.
A senior Shiv Sena member was shot and grievously injured by some unknown assailants in this Uttar Pradesh town on Monday evening, triggering a protest by hundreds of party activists, police said.
Shiv Sena district chief Anurag Sharma was shot at while riding a motorcycle in the heart of the Civil Lines area by some miscreants, police said. He was immediately rushed to the Moradabad Hospital with bullet injuries in the head. Doctors said his condition is critical.

Soon after the incident, hundreds of angry Shiv Sena activists started assembling on the roads, leading shopkeepers and business establishments to down shutters as they feared trouble.
