Shiv Sena on Sunday said that it would support BJP leader LK Advani's candidature for the post of Prime Minister.
Speaking at a function to unveil the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in suburban Dahisar in presence of Advani, senior Sena leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi said it is will of God that Advani becomes PM.
Joshi's statement assumes significance in backdrop of Sena Chief Bal Thackeray, on several occasions, stating that NCP chief Sharad Pawar was a competent candidate for the PM's post.
However, Advani did not comment upon the Joshi's statement and chose to speak only about Shivaji Maharaj and VD Savarkar.
Relations between the saffron allies have been uneasy with the Sena supporting UPA nominee Pratibha Patil during the Presidential poll last year.
