Former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar will explore a different pitch in the next general elections - as the Shiv Sena Lok Sabha candidate from Mumbai, a party office-bearer said.
"Yes, he will be our candidate from Mumbai North-Central constituency," party Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut told IANS in Mumbai on Friday.
Vengsarkar was born and bred in Dadar area, which falls in this constituency, he said.
Vengsarkar called on the party's executive president Udhav Thackeray here Friday afternoon. Several senior party leaders and others were present during the meeting.
A discussion was held on Vengsarkar's candidature although a formal announcement is expected only later, a party source said.
