The premises of a five-star hotel near the city's international airport terminal were damaged by members of Shiv Sena-controlled union who were protesting against the hotel employees' lay off, police said.
A group of about 400 Sena union activists gathered at the Hotel Intercontinental, The Grand, at suburban Sahar to protest against some employees being sacked by the hotel management, they said.
The protest turned violent with the activists damaging hotel property, police said.
The protestors damaged the lobby of the hotel, hotel officials said.
The protesters were placated by the hotel management which promised to hold talks with them, police said.
