SHO?s killer shot dead

THE STATION House Officer (SHO) of Tirwa in Kannauj district Ram Raj Yadav was killed in an exchange of fire with a gang of criminals in Pasiyapur village late on Saturday night. Police tracked down one of the gang members Lokendra Yadav alias Tampu and killed him early on Sunday morning.

The State Government has suspended sub-inspectors Hariram Yadav, Udayraj Singh and constable Munnajavi for their failure to protect Ram Raj. Moreover, Farrukhabad inspector Sharad Pratap Singh and SHO, Shamshabad, Satpal have been sent to the lines. They were all part of the raiding party led by Ram Raj.

According to SSP, Fatehgarh, BD Polson, Yadav, on a tip-off, had gone to the village to nab gang leader Salim alias Fauji who was involved in murders and kidnapping in Kannauj. Polson said as the police party tried to nab the criminals, Tampu opened fire on Ram Raj. While the gang members escaped, the injured SHO and constable Gaya Prasad were rushed to hospital. However, the SHO died during treatment. The injured constable has been sent to Kanpur for treatment.
The SSP said that the police came to know on Sunday morning that those involved in the attack on the police party were hiding in Barauna village. During raids, Tampu was arrested. 

However, he tried to escape and was killed in firing. The State Government has decided to give Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to the family of Ram Raj and a job of the rank of sub-inspector to his wife. 

The SSP said action against other police officers had been taken, as they demonstrated utter cowardice during the exchange of fire with the criminals. He said an inquiry had been ordered.
