A DACOIT wanted for several murders was arrested in Bhind district, police said on Thursday. Acting of a tip-off, a trap was laid and dacoit Pappu alias Mahesh Tomar, who carried reward of Rs 5000 on him, was arrested last night, they said.

37 cattle perish in village

AT LEAST 37 cattle, mostly cows, perished due to a mysterious disease at Kartal village in the past three months, an official release said on Thursday. Veterinary Deputy Director Dr Khan said that deaths continued even in spite of vaccination of cattle. UNI

Cop dies during inquiry

A 40-YEAR-OLD constable died under mysterious circumstances after his health deteriorated while making a statement during a departmental inquiry at Tikamgarh. Constable Pooran Singh, posted in the Police Lines, was being proceeded against for being absent from duty for a prolonged period.

“Yesterday, he was rushed from the Scheduled Castes Welfare Police Station to the district hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrapal Singh. Constable Singh was a resident of Purani Tehri Mulla area. His son Dileep alleged that his father was pressurised during the probe. There is no information about the post-mortem report of the deceased. UNI

Woman dies in fire

THE MUD house of Brij Mohan of Karahiya village was reduced to ashes and his wife was burnt to death, when his house caught fire from the burning chimney on Wednesday night. Brij Mohan and his son Bunty alias Narendra Rawat managed to run out of the house, but his wife Meera Bai could not escape. In trying to rescue her, Brij Mohan got partially burnt. HTC

Man killed in mishap

A 36-YEAR-OLD man was killed and eight injured, three of them severely, when their car was rammed by a bus near this district’s Pagaribangla village, police said on Thursday.The seriously hurt victims were rushed to Bhopal. The bus was heading for Biaora from Narsinghgarh and the deceased was identified as Narayan Shivhare. UNI
