THE DEPUTY Secretary Planning, Economics and Statistics Department has served show cause notices on two senior officers of the Directorate for ‘misconduct and irregularities in the distribution of honororium of Rs 7,28,599 for Time Use Survey.
They have been asked to furnish their replies by January 10 and incase they failed ex-parte decision would be taken against them.
Those issued show cause notices include Advisor State Planning Board, Dr B L Sharma and Deputy Director (senior research officer) R K Dixit.
Centre had entrusted the responsibility to conduct the survey to the Directorate of Planning, Economics and Statistics in 1998-99. At that time Sharma was the Director whereas Dixit was the deputy director.
According to sources in the Directorate, people were called to collect their honororium and paid travel and daily allowances. “Paying honorarium in cash and calling people from various locations itself affirmed that some irregularities were made in the entire process,” said a senior officer requesting anonymity.
Show Cause notices, copies of which is in possession of Hindustan Times, issued by D P Ahirwar. Dixit is accused of receiving honororium without conducting any survey work. The department has asked Dixit to explain why he received honorarium of Rs 8,000.
While the notice has been served on Sharma for violation of General Rule 3 (1) (two) and (three) of MP Civil Services Conduct Rule 1965, Dixit has been accused of violating Rule 16 of M P Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) 1966.
