BHOPAL UNDER-19 girls’ team skipper Shewta Mishra scored her maiden ton to script a big victory for her team in the first match of the divisional-level school cricket tournament that began at Mandiddep playground on Tuesday. Bhopal defeated Betul by a whopping 150 runs.
Winning the toss skipper Shweta decided to bat first. She opened the innings with Kratika. Ruthless Shweta with her fabulous control over the blade scored runs at will. She went for big shots from the very first delivery. She scored 100 runs off just 50 balls with 19 boundaries.
Her partner Kratika, however, retired hurt after scoring 20 runs. Prerna and Tanya scored 12 and 2 runs respectively. Bhopal set a target of 191 runs for the Betul team. Bhopal lost only one wicket in the form of Prerna.
After a fabulous batting, Shweta did well in bowling too. She claimed two wickets conceding just nine runs. Kratika Deepika and Tanya chipped in two wickets each for Bhopal. Betul managed to score just 41 losing all the wickets in seven overs. Bhopal won the match by 150 runs.
Earlier, municipality vice chairman Jagdish Sharma inaugurated the tournament. Bhopal team coach Mukarram and others were present on the occasion.
