SICA?s annual general body meeting today

THE 50TH annual general body meeting of the South Indian Cultural Association will be held tomorrow at SICA. This year a record number of candidates have filed their nominations for the posts of committee members. There will be a triangular contest for the posts of president and secretary.

THE 50TH annual general body meeting of the South Indian Cultural Association will be held tomorrow at SICA. This year a record number of candidates have filed their nominations for the posts of committee members. There will be a triangular contest for the posts of president and secretary.

Former president VS Mani, incumbent president K Srinivasan along with new comer S R Venkatesh have filed their nominations for the post of president.

For the first time in the history of SICA, a lady candidate Padmini Khajanchi has filed her nomination along with former president of the association and former managing trustee S N Anant for the post of secretary. Apart from them, sitting joint secretary Vardhachari has also filed his nomination for the important post of secretary.

There are two candidates for the post of vice president in former joint secretary K Narayanan and former treasurer K Venkateshwaran Iyer. For the post of treasurer, the candidates are trustee treasurer S M Ranganath and N Raghavan. The post of joint secretary S Renganathan (Kannappan) has been unanimously elected as no member had filed their nominations for the post of joint secretary. 

A record 19 members are contesting for the post 10 committee members. This year, the AGM would be interesting as many new aspirants are eagerly contesting for various posts to get into SICA managing committee. The contest for the post of president would be keenly watched, as all the three contestants are very familiar with the members. The secretary post is evenly poised between Padmini Khajanchi and S N Anant. The returning officer for the election would be advocate V S Rama Rao.
