Highlight Story

With painted white faces and black clothes, this was a unique drama competition where you could do everything except speak. Bolna Mana Hai…, an inter college mime competition, took place at IIPM International Campus in Satbari, Chattarpur.

Colleges like Dayal Singh, JIMS, KR Mangalam Institute of Management, RNIS participated in the event. However, more entertaining was the drama off the stage. “Why aren’t you guy clapping?”, asked a girl. In response, one of the boys replied, “Main tumhari sautan kay liye taali nahin bajaa sakta.”

Interestingly, the auditorium’s exit doors had been locked so that bored students could not move out. Quite a few got restless. “Humein zabardasti bandh kara diya hai in logon ne. Yeh democracy nahin hai,” students were heard saying. Theatre person Bubbles Sabharwal was one of the jury members. When a participating student of Dayal Singh College was asked about his painted face and lipstick, he said, “This helps for better expression and yes, of course I stole this lipstick from my mom. Don’t we look pretty?” Yes, dahling, you do.
