The sedition case against Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) national president Shahid Badr Falahi and 11 others, which the Uttar Pradesh government wishes to withdraw, was on Monday transferred to district and sessions court for hearing.
Submitting the UP Government Order (GO) withdrawing the case in the Fast Track Court (I) of judge GC Pandey, standing counsel Anwar Ahmad Khan had prayed that hearing in the case be dismissed.
Now, the next date of hearing will be fixed by the district and sessions court.
In 2001, the Kotwali police had lodged a case against Dr Falahi and 11 others after a SIMI seminar was held, where Dr Falahi delivered inflammatory speeches.
